Archimaera practices a deeply collaborative model of architecture that zeroes in on appropriate solutions to programmatic, technical, and client objectives. Our studio has a reputation for award-winning sustainable design and green building, and for projects that successfully engage with complex urban environments in a broad range of scale and typology.

We pride ourselves on a rigorous approach to understanding each project's unique circumstance, and our design process focuses on integrating material and immaterial contexts with project-specific pragmatic constraints, with the consistent aim of unlocking the latent potential of a site to enrich and contribute to a healthy and sustainable urban habitat.

  • JEREMY ZUIDEMA RA, AIA

    PARTNER

    As a founding partner in Archimaera Architecture since 2019, he has led the design, approval process and execution of a number of mixed-use projects across New York City. This includes the 208 unit mixed-use RoseCastle development in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, completed in 2022; an 87 unit mixed-use development currently under construction at 43-15 52nd Street, Queens; an 81 unit mixed-use development currently under construction at 88-36 139th St, Queens; and numerous other projects currently in various stages of design. Prior to this, he was an associate at Panter Hudspith Architects in London where he oversaw a range of award-winning projects from mixed-use, mixed-tenure housing developments through to a one-of-a-kind combined library and cinema project.

    Jeremy is a registered architect in New York State and New Jersey and a member of the AIA. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University and a Master degree in Housing and Urbanism from the Architectural Association in London.

  • NICHOLAS LIBERIS

    PARTNER

    Nick has been with Archimaera since 2019, bringing over 20 years of experience across a broad range of projects that include ground-up hospitality, multifamily, retail, and commercial offices. His background includes leadership roles in architecture, development and construction sides of the industry, providing him with a well-rounded perspective on the realities of development in NYC. As a senior leader for Archimaera, Nick guides project teams in design and execution, ensuring that each project meets the highest standard of bettering New York City. A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Nick'slife-long interests in construction and fabrication meaningfully inform the firm's architectural vision and goals.

  • HEATHERLYN NELSON

    DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

    With 20 years of Operations Management experience, Heatherlyn has significantly influenced Archimaera's work practices, employee engagement, and organizational culture. She played a key role in establishing the hybrid office in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, which has been a major development for the company.

    In her role, Heatherlyn directs the operations of the design firm, manages Human Resources, and oversees bookkeeping. Her contributions extend to many areas, reflecting her comprehensive expertise and commitment to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of Archimaera. Her multifaceted role underscores her ability to handle diverse responsibilities and drive positive change within the organization.

    Heatherlyn is a multifaceted individual who utilizes her free time in various creative and entrepreneurial endeavors. She runs her own home goods brand, where she channels her passion for design into creating unique products. Additionally, Heatherlyn dedicates time to designing and styling photoshoots and interior spaces, showcasing her talent in aesthetics and visual storytelling.

    Beyond her personal projects, Heatherlyn also mentors small business owners. She provides guidance on the foundational aspects of starting a business and offers strategic advice on how to grow and develop their ventures. Her diverse skill set and commitment to helping others make her a valuable resource in both the creative and business communities.

  • ANDREW SHIH

    SENIOR DESIGNER

    Andrew Shih joined the Archimaera team in 2019 and has played a vital role in our success. He has a M.Arch degree from Parsons School for Design and a BA major in anthropology and philosophy from Tsing Hua University. Currently, Andrew works as a project architect on the Manhattan Hudson Yards projects and Jamaica mixed-use development. He has also been involved as the project architect for a commercial development in Brooklyn, a LPC landmarked single-family renovation, and several hotel developments.

  • CHI ZHANG, RA

    Chi is an NYC-based architect and an architectural technician interested in implementing emerging technologies into the architectural design process. With over seven years of experience, he has worked on a variety of projects, including commercial buildings and residential mixed-use projects, applying innovative design principles and cutting-edge technology to create aesthetic and functional spaces. With a strong focus on technology, he also specializes in developing and integrating tools such as automated scripting and AI-enhanced design techniques into daily design practice.

    Chi is a registered architect in New York State. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Tianjin Chengjian University and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University.

  • Isaac Telio-Bejar

    JR. ARCHITECT, PROJECT MANAGER

    Isaac is a Mexican-born, NYC-trained Junior Architect. He holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Yeshiva University and earned his M. Arch. from the Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York (CCNY) in 2019. He originally joined Archimaera in its previous iteration as a summer intern in 2017 and transitioned to a full-time employee in 2020. Since then, he has participated in multiple projects at varying stages of design, from conceptualization to rezoning, to construction management. His hobbies include playing the violin, weightlifting, and drawing, and he hopes to one day contribute to the growing academic understanding of queer spaces and architecture.

  • MICHELLE CLARA

    ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT MANAGER

    Born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, Michelle is an Architectural Project Manager who works on a variety of commercial and residential mixed-use projects located around New York City by Archimaera Architecture. With 7+ years of work in architectural journalism, planning, and design consulting, Michelle’s work focuses on how architecture is shaping the community and the neighborhood. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Universitas Tarumanagara (UNTAR) and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (GSAPP). When she’s not managing Archimaera's projects, Michelle can be found doing yarn crawls on the weekends for her new craft projects or exploring bookstores around the city.

  • HANYI LIU

    ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER / PROJECT MANAGER

    Hanyi is an architectural designer based in NYC. Brought up in a Chinese medical family while having lived in six different cities during her early age, she is open-minded and interested in bringing in a broad range of perspectives in her design process. These include local cultures, different design theories, environmental, social contexts, and sustainabilities. At Archimæra Hanyi works on multiple mixed-used buildings. She believes that a careful consideration of design detail, professional knowledge of codes and construction implementing, as well as close cooperation with consultants, clients and contractors, is the foundation for a real world design project success.

    Hanyi received her Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Zhejiang University and Master's Degree in Advanced Architecture Design from Columbia University, where she was awarded Lucille Symser Lowenfish Memorial Prize in the final design studio.

    In her free time, she likes to do city-walks on sunny days and ski in the winter.

  • Nicole Ariana Arias Vela

    JR. ARCHITECT

    Nicole Ariana is an architect born and raised in Cali, Colombia, and currently based in New York City. With over three years of experience in interior design, residential and commercial projects, Nicole is passionate about creating spaces that connect the essence of those who inhabit them with architecture by integrating colors, textures, and shapes from the environment in her creative process.

    Nicole has developed her professional career in various countries, including Colombia, Portugal, and the United States. She is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. She joined the ARCHIMAERA team in 2023, where she has worked on multiple residential projects, producing construction documents, renders, and 3D models.

    She graduated from the University of San Buenaventura Cali in Colombia, further deepened her knowledge at the University of Porto in Portugal and earned a diploma in interior design from Xaveriana University in Bogotá, Colombia.

    In her free time, she loves to meditate, read, paint, write, and travel.

  • RUXUAN (Roxie) ZHENG

    JR. ARCHITECT

    Ruxuan is a Junior Architectural Designer who grew up in a family of female architects. Her passion for architecture originates from her childhood memories of observing her family working on new buildings, historical preservation, as well as adaptive reuse projects. Her experiences have provided her with valuable insights and equipped her with the skills necessary to make meaningful contributions in creating designs that are both efficient and adaptable, embracing change.

    At Archimaera, she works on residential and mixed-use projects, responsible for producing 3D models, BIM, CAD, and other architectural drawings for projects being executed by Archimaera.

    Ruxuan holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University and a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University.

  • Tzu-Tung (Tony) CHEN

    JR. ARCHITECT

    Tzu-Tung is a Junior Architectural Designer driven with a passion for crafting spaces that resonate on both urban and personal scales. That also create meaningful experiences within the built environment. His diverse portfolio includes projects ranging from WELL-certified residences to innovative post-pandemic design solutions, reflecting his adaptability and commitment to human-centered design principles.

    With experiences spanning various project types, from mixed-use architecture to hotel interiors, Tzu-Tung brings a multifaceted perspective to his work at Archimaera. His role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including producing 3D models, graphic diagrams, rezoning, BIM, and other architectural drawings.

    Tzu-Tung earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) and a Master of Architecture from Pratt Institutes as a recipient of a merit scholarship.
